Solar financing legislation wins committee approval

The House Energy, more about Utilities and Telecommunications Committee voted for approval of HB 57, this site the Solar Power Free-Market Financing Act of 2015, try on Wednesday, January 28.

“The strong leadership of Rep. Don Parsons, the committee chairman, and Rep. Mike Dudgeon, the bill’s sponsor, has resulted in this important step toward a solar policy in Georgia that will create jobs and stimulate investment,” said Brion Fitzpatrick, GA Solar chairman. “Consumers, businesses and entrepreneurs stand to benefit from the new financing options HB 57 will create. We are hopeful that the Georgia House of Representatives will confirm the recommendation of the Energy, Utilities and Telecommunications committee with approval of this bill.”

The bill now goes to the full House of Representatives for its vote. The bill is included on the House General Calendar for a floor vote on Monday, February 2.

If it receives a favorable majority vote, HB 57 will be transmitted to the Senate and assigned to a Senate committee for its consideration. This bill, if approved by the Senate and signed by the Governor, would take effect and become law July 1, 2015.
