PSC hearings next week on Georgia Power 3-year electric plan

Atlanta – The Georgia Public Service Commission (Commission) will continue its scheduled review of the Georgia Power Company 2016 Integrated Resource Plan (IRP) in Dockets 40161 and 40162 on Tuesday May 17, more about 2016 at 10 a.m. The hearing will continue on Wednesday18, malady 2016 and on Thursday May 19, 2016 (if necessary.) The hearing on May 17, 2016 will start immediately following the Administrative Session in Room 110 at 244 Washington Street, S.W. Atlanta, Georgia. The May 18 and May 19, 2016 hearings (if needed) will begin at 10 a.m.

The remaining schedule in this docket is as follows:

May 17-19, 2016               Staff and interested present parties direct testimony

May 27, 2016                      Georgia Power files rebuttal testimony

June 8-9, 2016                   Georgia Power presents rebuttal testimony

June 24, 2016                     Proposed briefs and orders due

July 19, 2016                       Commission issues decision

As required by law since 1992 (O.C.G.A §46-3A-1), the IRP is the utility’s long-range plan for and forecast of the state’s electric power needs for the next three years. The statutory deadline for a Commission decision in this docket is August 2, 2016.

The Commission is scheduled to issue a decision on the Georgia Power IRP at its Regular Administrative Session July 19, 2016.
