.. has major chops in producing credible journalism and building audiences in Atlanta. As editor of Creative Loafing, he built a struggling alternative weekly into Georgia’s second most popular publication. He’s either written or edited work that has won more than 50 state, regional and national awards. According to the independent data company Media Audit, more than 700,000 a week read CL in-print and online when Ken left the publication in 2008.
In 2010-2011, Kewn held a visiting fellowship at the Kennesaw State University Center for Sustainable Journalism, where he developed and published GreenBuildingChronicle.com, a news site on green construction and design in Atlanta. Green Building Chronicle quickly attained a Google Page Rank of 5. But Ken suspended operation of the site because he determined that his business plan wasn’t viable.
A native Georgian, Ken grew up paddling rivers and creeks across the Southeast. After taking a year-and-a-half off to spend time with his young son and to serve as his family’s own general contractor on a major LEED for Homes renovation — which he’s chronicling at greenhomechronicle.com — Ken returned in July 2013 to the development of RenewATL.
